Panthers prepare for WVU

The #4 AP / #4 Coaches Poll Pittsburgh Panthers prepare for action on Monday, February 7 versus WVU on the hardwood at the Petersen Events Center. Tipoff is at 7:00 pm and the game is on ESPN's Big Monday. Pitt is favored by 9.

The Panthers look to continue their current win streak, which has seen them win 5 of their last 6 contests. Over the past 3 games, DeJuan Blair has put up big numbers: 24.3 points and 14.6 rebounds per game.


• The Panthers won the first meeting against West Virginia, 79-67, in one of Pitt's most lopsided victories at WVU Coliseum since the arena opened in 1970. Sam Young scored 16 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, and Blair added a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
• Pitt is 5-1 in its past six games against West Virginia, which had lost three of four before routing Providence on Saturday.

Jermaine Dixon has made 16 of his past 32 3-point attempts since the Georgetown game. He made only 7 of his first 43 such attempts in 14 games prior. For the season, Brad Wannamaker is shooting 18-39 from 3-land, which is a .461 clip, and Ashton Gibbs is shooting the tre at a 50% rate, going 25-50 so far. The Panthers really have some outside threats this season.
